My objectives during my review were to examine the gradients inside and outside (and between public and private space), using void spaces that intersect larger volumes. My particular investigation has led me to projects by Herzog and de Meuron, which also exhibit the involute form (such as the de Young museum), and others which provide a gradient of public to private transition. Rather than facades, these volumes provide for this transition.
