House 002_Cube_30 degree

For this investigation, I was interested in the top surface of the cube.  Unlike the previous House 001, I attempted to be more "sculptural" with this volume, carving it away rather than being additive.  A circle defines the locations of other circles on the top surface.  By changing the radius of the large circle and adjusting the radius of the smaller circles, a variety of patterns and degreesof porosity can be created.
I imagined this being a form finding exercise in which the light inside the room would be modulated by the circular skylights from above.  The computer would run the parametric model and "find" the optimal circle size and radius for the best lighting of the interior volume.

Although not yet the ideal house, this investigation has been productive in forming relationships that produce a variety of visual and performative goals.
